Lyceum International School, Panadura defeated their sibling school, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda with ease in the 5th Annual 50-over encounter at De Soyza Stadium in Moratuwa.

The boys from Nugegoda walked in with 3 consecutive past wins in this battle between the silver-blues, under their belt. However, the Panadura men proved their skill with a massive 164-run victory this year.

The toss fell in favour of Lyceum Nugegoda, who invited the opposition to bat first. The Panadura batting line-up was beefed up with the experience and skills of Yesith Kalupahana, who is a star of the District and Provincial teams of his age group. 287 runs were piled up for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Kalupahana scored a stellar century to boost his alma-mater to victory. Dineth Amarasekara, who played second fiddle to Kalupahana, struck an equally valuable 63 runs for LISP.

The bowlers from Panadura, however, did not seem to have the best of days at the encounter. Ruvindu de Silva was the topper of the bowling chart with 2 for 34, while Janithu Jayathilaka and Lakindu Sachin also bagged 2 wickets each.

The batting was not a  breeze for the Nugegoda school either, as they went down in just 28, with 5 overs falling miles short of the target. Niven Rodrigo baffled the Nugegoda batsmen with brilliant figures of 4 wickets for 8 runs. Nethan Liyanage partnered up with him in the assault, picking up 3 wickets for 40 runs.

Hasindu Perera (32) and Duvindu Silva (30) both fought to their maximum capacity but it still was not enough to turn things around for LISN.
