Lavish prizes on offer at the Hutch Sri Lanka Super Series 2018

    Hutch Sri Lanka Super Series, organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) and the Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC) was launched yesterday (21st) at the Dimo 800 Showroom with Minster of Sports Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara gracing the occasion as the Guest of honour.

    This year the Hutch Sri Lanka Super Series will consist of ten racing events which will include, Katukurunda circuit meet, Fox hill Supercross, Walawe Supercross, Kanway Auto Drome Circuit Meet, Colombo Supercross, Commando Challenge Supercross, Lions top speed-Katukurunda Circuit Meet, Pannala Night Races, Kanway Auto Drome Circuit meet ii (Motorcycles Only) and Katukurunda Circuit Meet ii.

    Keeping in line with their dedication to usher the motor sports of the country to a new direction, the organizers have decided to scale up the prizes that are offered to the overall winners of the Super Series.  Last year a brand-new car was awarded to the winner of the SLGT category of the series while the winner of MX motorcycles was awarded a brand-new Motorcycle. This year for the first time in the history of motor racing in the country, the winner of the SLGT category and MX Motorcycles will both be awarded a brand new car sponsored by Maxxis tyres, Mobil and Promowatch events while the winners of Ford Laser event and the Supermotard event will be awarded a Brand new Motorcycle each sponsored by Stafford Motor Co Pvt Ltd.

    Addressing the gathering the President of SLARDAR, Kamil Hussain added that “ We have always focused a great deal on continuous improvement of sport and therefore I am proud to state that this year’s ‘Sri Lanka Super Series’ is bigger and better than ever before. We have made every possible effort to provide greater resources and grander prizes in order to attract, encourage and motivate the country’s finest drivers and riders to perform at their best”

    Minster of Sports Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara praised the efforts of the organizers who have taken steps to reward the drivers and the riders who take great risks and invest their time and effort in participating in the competitions the minister added that “At the very beginning of my tenure as the Minister of Sports when I attended the first awards ceremony I requested that the drivers and the riders should be compensated with something other than the usual certificate and trophies and SLARDAR has managed to do that.”  He also went on to speak about the cohesion that is required as he added that “I know there can be altercations when different parties are working together as they will want to make sure their respective organization is highlighted, but we need to sort out our differences and need to focus on doing what’s best for the sport”

    This year Sri Lanka Motorcycle club has decided to join hands with SLARDAR & AMRC and will include the Walawe Supercross and Katukurunda race 2 to the Hutch Sri Lanka Super Series.
