The 2018 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship will be held from 30th July – 6th August in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. The championship will take place at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium Hall B and Hall C with 13 teams vying for the top honour.

Lanka Lions will compete in Pool C. Pool C consists of Nakhonratchasima The Mall VC (Thailand), Canberra Heat (Australia), Lanka Lions (Sri Lanka) and Yanchai (Hong Kong).

Sri Lanka will be led by Chamara Mihiran from Army SC and Head Coach will be Dejan Vulicevic from Serbia. Assistant Coach will be Charles Thilakarathne while Nalin Sampath Abeysinghe will be the Trainer.  

Khalam Ardakan (Iran), Toray Arrows (Japan) and Atyrau (Kazakhstan) are in Pool A, while Pool B comprises of Sichuan (China), Long Power (Chinese Taipei) and Sanest Khanh Hoa (Vietnam), with Asia World Club (Myanmar), WAPDA (Pakistan) and Binagar (Turkmenistan) in Pool D.

This is the second time Nay Pyi Taw are hosting the Asian Men’s Club Championship. The first one was held in 2016, with 14 teams participating and the second one this year initially attracted 16 teams. However, Iraq, Jordan and Qatar withdrew ahead of the competition.

In terms of the competition, the pool round-robin preliminaries will be held from July 30 to August 1, with teams having a rest day the following day. The quarter-final ranking round for teams ranked ranging from R4 to R13 will compete for their place in the quarter-finals.

Traditionally, the top team from this Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship will represent Asia in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship the following year.
