The 1st XI cricket match between Mahinda College and Dharmaraja College was held on 17th and 18th of February at the Galle international Cricket Stadium.
Early in the morning the toss went to Dharmaraja who elected to bat first. Batting first Dharmaraja College batsmen comfortably put on 280 runs on the board. Lahiru Samarakoon of Dharmaraja College played an extraordinary innings of 104 runs to help the Dharmaraja cause. Right arm fast bowler Pasindu Dilshansent 5 Dharmaraja batsmen back to the dressing room at the cost of 70 runs in his 21 overs.
Day 2 saw the Mahindian openers put on a good opening stand of 50 runs for the 1st wicket. However thereafter the Mahindians wickets started to fall down and Gihan Dhanushka settled down to score 42 and Rishan Kavinda contributed with 27 runs. But Ruchira Pupulawatte was re-introduced to the attack which saw Mahinda collapse in a heap. Ruchira returned the excellent figures of 5 for 69 and limited the Mahindian innings to 185.
