The junior national athletics championship ran into a snag as the events are supposed to be spilt into two venues namely Sugathadasa stadium (original venue) and the Mahinda Rajapakse Stadium Diyagama
All age categories of the walking race, pole-vault, hammer throw and others will be worked off at the Sugathadasa Stadium on 16th, and all the other events will be held at Diyagama during the remaining days. Authorities state there were difficulties in fitting all events to Diyagama which necessitated the changes.
The Athletics Association of Sri Lanka claims that 3,500 entries have been received for this well worked out annual championship which is regarded as a selection process for the upcoming Asian Youth Games which will be held in China 16-24 Aug 2013 and the IAAF World Youth Championship.
