St. Joseph’s College, Darley Road won the boys’ ‘B’ Division title in the S.L.A. Rathnayake Memorial All-Island Inter Schools Under 16 Badminton Team Championship concluded recently at S. Thomas’ College Bandarawela In-door Stadium.
Victorious Josephian team beat St. John’s College Nugegoda and S. Thomas’ College Bandarawela ‘B’ Team 3-0. Then they beat Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya 3-0 in the pre quarter-finals. Then they crushed Maliyadewa College, Kurunegala, 3-0 in the quarter finals.
Josephian’s defeated Royal Institute Colombo 3-0 in the semi final to reach the final. After a hectic final, St. Joseph’s beat the hosts S. Thomas’ Bandarawela ‘A’ team 3-2.
