JAT Holdings (Pvt) Ltd today announced its sponsorship of the Ceylonese Rugby and Football Club (CR&FC) as its main sponsor for a 3-year period commencing 01st September 2016 to the 31st August 2019.

The head table consisted of Mr. Ajith Abeyrathne, Chairman Rugby at CR & FC, Mr Sriyan Cooray, Vice President CR & FC, Mr. Hamza Hassanali, Secretary CR& FC, Mr. Aelian Gunawardane Managing Director of JAT Holdings, Mr.Ravi Goonarathne, President CR & FC and Mr. Benjamin Macdougall, Head coach of the Rugby team.

Addressing the gathering Mr. Ravi Goonarathne, President of CR & FC commenting on the partnership stated “CR&FC, as one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most iconic rugby clubs in the island is extremely delighted to announce its partnership with JAT Holdings, synonymous with the furnishing and the finishing industry in the country. This year CR&FC will feature a well-balanced youthful team with an experienced coach at the helm in Mr. Ben Macdougall our sole aim is to be the force to be reckoned with amongst the rugby clubs participating in the Dialog Club Rugby league. We are extremely privileged to have JAT Holdings on board with us supporting Rugby at CR & FC in the next three years.”

Speaking next Mr. Aelian Gunawardene stated that “We are excited to lend our patronage to CR&FC . I started this company 23 years ago and I am proud to say that we have come a long way since then. Sponsoring sports is a way of giving back to the community as I believe we all owe much to the sporting backgrounds which make us complete individuals. We have sponsored the tennis premier league, JAT Open Golf championships and most recently the Bi lateral test series between Sri Lanka and Australia where Sri Lanka white washed the Aussies. CR& FC have produced many high profile and outstanding players. My farther Mr. Lloyd Gunawardena being among their 1950 Clifford Cup squad it’s a great pleasure to be partnered with this prestigious club.”

The ceremonial cheque was handed over to Mr. Ravi Goonaratne by Mr Aelian Gunawardene and the match kit was presented to the Captain of the 2016/17 team Shane Sammandapperuma.

CR Press ConCR& FC this year promises to be a tough contender for their rivals with a promising squad comprising of 12 national players, 3 National U-21 players and a host of exciting young talent in their ranks and will no doubt be determined to do one better from the last season where they ended up as the league runners up.
