Island nation’s most passionate schools season to kick off

127

All Island rugby 7’s will commence this weekend at the Royal Complex from 8.am onwards. This exciting event which is the prelude to the vociferously fought schools rugby is once again organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Union (SLSRFA).

Eight groups and 29 schools respectively will vie for the trophy. Defending champions Isipathana College beat Trinity College in the 2014 finals with 22 – 00 victory. However, the Green Machine have drawn in Pool A along with Prince of Wales where they had a horrifying final last weekend at Zahira 7s, though they won in a sudden death try after drawing 19 all at full time, POW gave them quite a scare.

Royal College Colombo and newly promoted tier 1 CWW Kannangara who also won the bowl category last year, will not be taking part in the tournament. The rest of the 29 teams however are set to make some blistering 7s rugby to win the medals.
