Island League Football Tournament with 8 of the top teams in the Western Province aim to revitalize the domestic football arena.
The 8 teams are divided into two groups of four. New Star, Maligawatte Youth, Blue Star & Saunders are in group A while Renown, Red Star, Java Lane & Moragasmulla are in group B.
The tournament, organized by Challengers Football Club, will be played from 14th June to 20th July and all 15 matches will be played at the Sugathadasa Stadium. The semi finals will be played on 13th July and the final on 20th July.

President of Challengers FC & tournament Chairman, M.I.A. Maniwannan had this to say,
“Football is not just a sport. It is a passion. Our aim is to bring domestic football back to its glory. This is just the first step.”
On the opening day (14th June), New Star will take on Blue Star at 2pm while Renown will battle it out against Red Star at 4pm. On 15th June, Saunders takes on Maligawatte Youth at 2pm and Java Lane v Moragasmulla at 4pm.
