Week two of the Dialog School Rugby League was worked off over the past weekend, with Isipathana stamping their authority while Trinity Royal bounced back with wins, and new boys D.S. Senanayake, and Zahira secured wins alongside St. Joseph’s.

Wounded St. Joseph’s College battle high-flying Isipathana on 30th June at CR & FC

Isipathana are on cruise control, coasting their way towards their 17th League title even though it’s still early doors, while the Josephians have stumbled once and got over the line narrowly.

The Green Machine made easy work out of S. Thomas’ at Mount, dismantling the home team in a commanding fashion.

St. Joseph’s on the other hand, were made to grind out their 3-0 win against Wesley in a game that saw two teams out of form clash.

The Josephians will have a task up their hands, the biggest so far, if they are to dismantle Isipathana while the Lads in Green will aim to get past the St. Joseph’s in a clash of 1 and 2 from 2022.

S. Thomas’ College aims to get back to winning ways against Kingswood on 1stJuly at Mount Lavinia

Following a defeat in week two, the Thomians would be aiming to get back to winning ways as they host Kingswood.

The home team was put to the sword by Isipathana, however, a comeback of sorts in the second half saw them narrow the gap in defeat.

Kingswood will be coming in refreshed following a bye and will no doubt be aiming to get their first points of the Dialog Rugby League 2023.

Royal College aiming to consolidate on their bonus point win as they take on Vidyartha on the 1st of July at the Royal Complex

The Royalists managed to secure a thumping victory against Science College, passing the test with flying colours. Their attack finally clicked with the backs getting as much ball as the forwards and they were unstoppable!

The Royal defence held firm and they will be seeking a similar performance this weekend as well as they play host to Vidyartha who are coming off a defeat to Trinity.

Vidyartha College hung in there for the majority of the game and came close with a burst in the final few minutes, however, Trinity managed to cling on, securing their first victory.

This time around, it will be a different test for Vidyartha College as they come down to Royal Den at the Complex.

Seeing the back of Royal would be tough, and to do it at the Complex, Vidyartha will have to play out of their skin if they are to shock the hosts.

Zahira will be seeking to double their win tally as they take on Science on the 1st of July at Zahira Grounds

A game that will provide an opportunity for both Zahira and Science get secure valuable league points will take place at Maradana.

The Zahirians shocked Dharmaraja at Bogambara with a narrow win and will no doubt be aiming to double their tally in week 3.

Science on the other hand will have plenty to make up to if they are to dismantle the hosts. This will no doubt be an entertaining fixture with everything to play for

St. Peter’s will be eyeing to build on their week 1 heroics as they take on Dharmaraja at Bogambara on the 1st of July

Master tactician Sanath Martis will no doubt be eyeing another win, this time around, against Dharmaraja up at Bogambara.

Coming in following a bye, the Peterites will be fresh and refreshed!

Their hunger and urgency were unmatched in week one and another week of the same would be what’s on the cards up in the Hill Capital.

Dharmaraja’s heartbreaking win would no doubt have been put in the past as the Rajans will step out, knowing the enormity of the task and what they need to bring to the table if they are to upset the boys from Bambalapitiya.

Wesley College take on D.S. Senanayake College as the Dons seek to make it 2 from 2 on the 2nd of July at Royal Complex

After an outing to forget against St. Joseph’s, Wesley College will be seeking to bounce back and register their first win of the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2023.

A game to forget in week 2 for Wesley as they failed to capitalize on a raft of opportunities as they targeted an elusive try that never came through, losing by a slender 3-points.

The Dons began 2023 with a moral-boosting win at Pallekale. The visitors didn’t have it all their way, however, managed to secure a 4-point victory thanks to hat-trick hero and NDB Player of the Match Janidu Wijerathna.

Week 3 comes about with new challengers and both Wesley and DS will no doubt be aiming to secure much-needed points in the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2023.

St. Anthony’s College and Trinity College have the luxuries of the BYE during week 3.

Isipathana and St. Anthony’s continue at one and two in Group 1A while DS jump into third position as S. Thomas’, Kingswood and Wesley all drop one place with the Josephians staying put at fifth position.

Royal and Trinity lead the way in first and second position as Zahira moves to fifth place. Meanwhile, Vidyartha and Science fall behind during St. Peter’s week off
