IPL 7: Delhi Daredevils vs Mumbai Indians, 16th T20 Match

110

It was not comprehensive, but a comfortable win in the end for Delhi. After restricting Mumbai to under 130, they lost de Kock early, but Vijay and Duminy, who was promoted up the order revived them a bit.

KP also played sensibly and was there till the end to make sure Delhi didn’t panic towards the end overs. Malinga did create a stutter by taking 2 wickets in an over, but KP and Yadav batted sensibly to see them through. This is Mumbai 4th straight loss in this edition and they have lot to ponder if they are to make a comeback in this edition. Stay tuned for the presentation…

Murali Vijay: ‘The wicket was very slow and I wanted the finish the match for my team, but I got out today. I have been playing well in the domestic circuit and I had hoped to carry the form to IPL. The support here in Dubai is fantastic and looking forward to going home now’.

Pietersen: ‘Absolutely it was a brilliant performance. It was fifty-fifty at the toss, but we had a lengthy meeting yesterday and our bowlers set it up perfectly. The sub-continent wickets are slow and Murali Vijay played brilliantly and it’s good to register a win. ‘

Rohit: ‘It was the batting that let us down, 126 was never going to be enough. Bowlers tried their best but it was just too little for them to defend. We need to work on our batting and improve for the next game. We have one more game here before we go to Mumbai, hopefully, we can win that.’

Mumbai Indians : 125-6 (20/20 overs: K Pollard 33not out, Jaydev Unadkat 29/2)

Delhi Daredevils : 126-4 (18.5/20 overs: Murali Vijay 40, Lasith Malinga 17/4)
