Phenomenal batting knocks of the St Sylvesters’ middle order and a match bag of 10 wickets for 36 to Sivakumar Tyron paved the way for St.Sylvester’s College, Kandy to beat Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya by an inning and 104 runs today. The game was played at University grounds in Peradeniya.

After winning the toss, the boys from Pannipitiya batted first and were bundled out for a cheap 97 runs. Vesters bowling department started to dominate the proceedings from the first session as they ruined the opposition’s batting line up in no time, only enabling Himasha Liyanage to score a half ton. Sivakumar Tyron led the challenging bowling attack by claiming four wickets.

Right hander Thenuka Liyanage top scored with 80 runs inclusive of seven and two whopping sixes. Muditha Hashan (69) and skipper Malith Premathilake (57) built up a solid partnership of 92 for the 5th wicket to consolidate the innings of the hosts. Off spinner Maheema Weerakoon bagged 4 wickets.

Visitors’ second innings batting was even more substandard as they were confined to just 61 runs. Tharindu Sandaruwan along with Kanishka Jayasundara gave some hope to their team while others were not even able to get into double figures. Tyron once again curtailed visitors’ batting by grabbing another 6 wickets confirming the massive victory for St.Sylvester’s College, Kandy.
