The Sri Lankan batters put on a dominant display, posting a formidable total of 225 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Kusal Mendis, Pavan Rathnayake and skipper Dasun Shanaka all played key roles, each registering half-centuries.
Mendis anchored the innings with a composed 61 off 45 deliveries, striking seven boundaries. Rathnayake provided the acceleration, smashing 60 off just 28 balls, including eight fours and a six. Shanaka reached his half-century in just 19 balls, becoming the fastest Sri Lankan to score a T20I fifty.
In reply, Oman struggled to keep up with the required run rate and were restricted to 120 for 9 in their 20 overs. Middle-order batter Mohammad Nadeem offered some resistance with a fighting 53.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout the innings, with Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera leading the attack, claiming two wickets apiece to seal a comprehensive victory for the co-hosts.
