Rahul Karunathilake, Captain of Trinity College 1st XV mentioned that “This year being the 110th year of rugby at Trinity and to be appointed as the 100th Captain is a great honor, for us as a team high expectations from all those in the wider rugby community provide the foundation for achieving excellence. I want to thank the coaches, parents, well-wishers and especially Land Rover and CBL for their support ”

Answering a question raised by the media, as to how Trinity plans on re dominating the schools rugby arena like they did in the 1960’s Mr. Rohan Abeykoon – President, OTRS stated thus “Trinity has had champion unbeaten sides in the past, but it is not fair to compare eras as the game of rugby has changed vastly from the days gone by,  we believe that the current crop players are much fitter better physically conditioned, you often see prop forwards running like center three-quarters which was not seen in the past, Rugby has developed vastly not only at Trinity but in the country, 5 years ago we had a plan of uplifting the game of rugby at Trinity college and all plans are nothing without the funding that backs it up. We are thankful to Land rover for coming forward to back us financially and CBL who have joined in as the associate sponsor for the first time.”
