Lumbini duo, Ravishka and Prabath rout President’s College

President’s College, Kotte and Lumbini College, Colombo battled it out at the BRC grounds over the course of 5th and 6th of November. St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa locked horns with Royal College, Colombo in a traditional fixture at the Royal grounds on the same dates and Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya played Mahinda College at home.

The group ‘B’ fixture, was a low-scorer as the whole match aggregated to only 287 runs. More credits to the weather Gods for that though.

Lumbini College, who won the toss decided to bowl first. The regular wicket-taker of the season for Lumbini, Ravishka Wijesiri, kicked in with a five-wicket haul for just 8 runs. President’s College was in deep troubles as they were bowled out for a pathetic 67 runs.

Though the bowlers were outstanding for Lumbini, the batsmen were not up to the mark. Lumbini only managed 113 runs for their first innings. Savindu Prabashana was the only batsman who managed a convincing performance with 39 runs to his name. Kasun Malinda was the pick of the bowlers for President’s College.

But, it was yet again the bowlers who did the job for Lumbini as they bundled up President’s College for another woeful 76. It was Prabath Madusanka who was in the limelight this time bagging 6 wickets for 25 runs. Wijesiri paired up with Madusanka in the destruction as he picked the rest of the wickets.

A target of 31 runs was set for the hosts which they happily chased down even though they lost 3 wickets on the way.

Royal College, Colombo vs St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa

St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa was invited to bat first by the Royalists, with a delayed start of play, on day one. St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa batted out the 32.1 overs which the rain Gods permitted in the game and scored 102 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Day one was then called off, only to see the day two to be a complete spoil-sport. The overnight rain allowed no play on day two due to wet ground conditions. The game was forced to a draw without a single ball being bowled on day two.

Batting first, after losing the toss, Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya was restricted for 137 runs by the Mahinda College bowlers. Sanjana Lanka was the top-scorer for Dharmapala College with 44 runs to his name. The highlight of the innings was Kushan Madusha’s 6 wickets for 51 runs.

In reply, Vinura Dulsara-lead Mahinda College batting unit, scored 168 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Dulsara, who has been amongst runs since the start of the season, scored another splendid half-century. Dilshan de Silva picked up 3 wickets for 26 runs.
