Holy Family take Milo Netball

The final stage matches of the MILO Schools Netball Championship 2015 were worked off on the 25th, 26th and 27th July at the Bernard Aluvihare Grounds in Matale. This edition of the MILO Trophy featured over 400 teams from 120 schools. The tournament sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd for the 24th time was conducted in two divisions A and B in age groups of under 14, 16 and 18. This year’s tournament featured many teams from the Northern and Eastern provinces for the 1st time. 

Holy Family Convent Kurunegala, which has really turned into a Netball super power in the schools arena of late, showed their class once again, clinching the coveted Under 18 A division title as well as the Under 14 A division title. They were unable to clinch a trifecta of titles unfortunately, as they were defeated in the finals of the Under 16 A division by Sri Sidhdhartha Maha Vidyalaya Eppawala.

Yatihena Kanishta Vidyalaya was another team that excelled in the tournament, clinching the Under 18 B division title as well as finishing as runners up in the under 14 B division. Bandarapola Maha Vidyalaya too performed well, winning the Under 16 B division title and finishing as runners up in the under 18 B division, while Maliyadewa Balika Vidyalaya finished as runners up in both the under 18 and under 14 A divisions.
