Joes And Lyceum Reign Supreme As The 50TH National Age Group Aquatic Championships Comes To A Close.

As the saying goes ‘Remaining at the top is far more challenging than getting to the top’. However, for St. Josephs college Maradana and Lyceum International School Wattala this challenge was a simple walk in the park as they defended their championships with ease at the 50^th HNB National Age Group Aquatic Championships that was held at the Sugatadasa Swimming Pool Complex from April 2^nd to 6^th 2026.

Among very stiff competition St. Josephs College, Maradana put on an extraordinary show by racking up a whopping 1,349.50 points to claim the top spot in the Men’s category. In the same category, St.Peters College Colombo (418 points) and Lyceum International School Wattala (403.50 points) claimed the runners up and second runners up positions respectively. But however, they were still far behind to catch to the boys from Darley Road.

In the women’s category, Lyceum International School, Wattala maintained their momentum from last year by clinching the overall championships with 862 points. Not very far behind were Hillwood College, Kandy (607.50 points) and Lyceum International School, Gampaha (592.50 points) claiming the second and third place spot respectively. Bu the girls from Lyceum International School Wattala showcased a tremandous swim and effort in order to emerge victorius.

A total of 13 records were broken in the course of five days with 1,312 swimmers taking part in this meet, Which is indeed a sight of relief as the new generation of Sri Lankan swimmers are taking the next step towards greateness.

Girls under 17 champion – Rushalee Dissanayake, Musaeus College Colombo, 30 points

 

Boys under 17 champion – A.I.M. Haathim, Lyceum International School Nugegoda, 25 points

 

Girls under 20 champion – Jessie Seneviratne, Lyceum International School Gampaha, 25 points

 

Boys under 20 champion – M. F. Muhammed, Zahira College Colombo, 20 points

 

Women 20 & over champion –  Navanjana Siriwardena, Killer Whale Aquatics, 25 points

 

Men 20 & over champion  – Senitha Thenuwara, Sri Lanka Airforce, 27 points
