Henagama Central win a nail biter

It was a low scoring affair between Henagama Central and Bandaranayake College as they went head to head for the 2nd Battle of Siyanne Blue and Green at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Luckily the rain gods stayed away after some heavy showers in Colombo during the last few days. The Henamaga skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. Things didn’t go according to plan as the wickets fell in quick succession. Runs did not come easy for the batters and the fall of wickets made it even more tough for Henagama Central College. They were bundled out for just 95 runs in  35.1 overs, a run rate of below 3 runs per over.

In reply Bandaranayake College had a fairly simple task at hand but it proved not to be as easy as they would have expected. Janith Madusha and Shehan Dinusha took matters into their hands with the ball. The pair claimed 3 wickets each as they fought back after a disappointing display with the bat. Bandaranayake College had hope when Maleesha Kalanasuriya and Sajith Madushanka were in the crease; Maleesha top-scored with 26 while Sajith scored 24. Apart from those two innings there wasn’t much support from the rest of the batters as Bandaranayake were bowled out for just 87 runs. Henagama Central won the game by a measly 6 runs.
