Hayleys Group ‘A’ booked their spot in the final of the Singer-MCA Super Premier T20 League 2025 with a commanding victory over Maliban Biscuits ‘A’ in the first semi-final played today (28th October) at Bloomfield Grounds.
After being asked to bat first, Maliban Biscuits were bundled out for 122 runs, despite a fighting knock from Dhananjaya Lakshan, who top-scored with 49 runs off 49 deliveries, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.
For Hayleys, Ramesh Mendis and Kavishka Anjula were the stars with the ball, claiming three wickets apiece, as they kept the Maliban batting lineup under tight control throughout the innings.
In reply, Hayleys Group chased down the modest target with six wickets in hand, thanks to a fluent innings from opener Nishan Madushka, who struck 41 off 28 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes at a brisk strike rate of 146.43.
Despite Dushan Hemantha’s efforts with the ball — picking up 3 for 28 with his wrist spin — Maliban Biscuits couldn’t prevent Hayleys from sealing a comfortable win and progressing to the final.
Hayleys Group ‘A’ will now await the winner of the second semi-final between Fairfirst Insurance and CDB Bank, which will be telecast LIVE on ThePapare 2 (Dialog Television Ch. 63), Dialog ViU+ mobile app, and ThePapare.com tomorrow (29th October) at MCA Grounds.
