Hareen Buddila takes 11 to bowl St. Aloysius’ to victory

Left-arm orthodox spinner, Hareen Buddila captured an 11-wicket match bag as he bowled St. Aloysius’ College, Galle to an 8-wicket win over Holy Cross College, Kalutara in their under 19 division 1 cricket encounter which concluded yesterday at Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.

The team from Kalutara won the toss and elected to bat first but was unable to handle the spin of Buddila. He took 6 for 27 to bundle out the hosts for just 170 runs, Pasindu Perera was the top run-getter scoring a fighting 47.

In reply, the visitors took a 65-run first innings lead as they posted 235 runs on the board. Skipper Navindu Nirmal made a classic 76 while Buddila showed his class with the bat as well scoring 65.

Buddila worked his magic once again in the second innings as he grabbed his second five-wicket haul for the match to wrap up the Holy Cross innings for a mere 122. Niluksha Dulmina made a steady 28 to steer St. Aloysius’ run chase of 58 in the second innings.

St. Aloysius’ College, Galle coached by Malaka De Silva will be extremely pleased to start off their 2016/17 season with a win and will look to continue the winning momentum when they take on St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya next week.
