Hamza College qualified for the Zahira Super 16 Soccer 7s after winning the emerging schools tournament defeating St.Lucias College in a tense penalty shoot-out.
At full time the scores remained nill all and Hamza College won the match 2-0 on penalties. In fact both the semifinals were also decided on penalties. Hamza College defeated Al Hidaya College 3-2 and St.Lucias’ College beat T.B.Jayah College 2-1 on penalties in the semifinals.
With this win Hamza College has the privilege of playing in the Zahira 16 Soccer 7s main tournament and an opportunity to tussle with some of the best football schools in the country and make their mark.
The main tournament will kick off on the 16th of October at the Zahira College main grounds and this time around, the draw will consist of schools from around the country. There will be representations from the North, East and the Uva provinces competing alongside the Colombo schools for the title. The organizers have incorporated four title on offer; cup, plate, shield and bowl.
