Science College recorded their 4th consecutive win maintaining their unbeaten strike in the Schools Rugby league, when they outplayed Kingswood College by 53 points to 5 in their A Division League fixture played at the Bogambara stadium.

As always it was a beautiful evening in the hill capital & a perfect whether for rugby. Boys from Mount Mt Lavinia Science College walked in to the grounds with the unbeaten tag on them. Where Kingswood College were hunting for a victory from the beginning of the season. With seven players being injured and with a big hit last week by Isipathana College at the Royal Complex, many youngsters wearing the 1XV jersey for the very first time in the Kingswood jersey found it difficult to bear the pressure in the boiling Schools Rugby League 2016.

Science College took nearly 10 minutes from the kick off at 4.30pm to settle in the game. Where Kingswood got a golden opportunity to boost themselves and add 3 points on the board early in the game with a penalty being offered at the 22 meter mark but it didn’t pay off in favor of the host.

To begin the day’s proceedings Science College was offered with an easy penalty under the post which was successfully converted by Vibuda Hasanja. Then started the scientific treatment for Kingswood with a try from the trending driving maul by Janith Lakshana favorite in the Science College outfit for this year, which was converted successfully by Vibuda Hasanja.

Speedsters last year’s Presidents trophy champions Science College as usual showcased some good phases of running rugby with their forwards this evening.  Janith Lakshana managed to slice through the Kingswood defense for his second try which was successfully converted by Vibuda Hasanja. Kingswood took us back to the golden eras of rugby by showing the spectators a well worked try by fly half S.Ranaweera, but he failed to convert it. Before the short whistle, Center for Science College Sanjula Roshan crossed the line easily adding five more points on the board. This was not converted.

After lemons it was one way traffic in Bogambara.  Janidu Fernando opened it up with a dashing run to the goal line & it was successfully converted by Vibuda Hasanja’s kicking boots. To mark the presence of the wing three quarters Maduranga scored in the corner flag  which was also converted by Vibuda Hasanjana.

Young Kingswood lads were uncomfortable all the way with bad finishing and lack of defense. Nirosha Udayanga captain himself crossed the line through the tired Kingswood boys to keep the score board ticking. Vibuda Hasanja was fantastic with his kicking and didn’t let go the 2 points on his captain’s try.

Coach for Science College Amila Chthuranga made this an opportunity to test his substitutes before the big game next week making some changes in both departments. Sashin Madushanka flanker for Science scored the seventh try easily picking up a scrappy ball in the five meter line, It was not  successfully converted.

The Lankan ‘Doppeganger’ Janith Lakshana made justice for the tag given and crossed the line in  the dying stage of the game for the 3rd time.   It was not converted.

Janith Lakshana speaking to Thepapare.com said that it is not about individual achievements they are playing towards a common goal which is the Schools Rugby League title 2016.He stated that no matter what, they will keep training harder till this is achieved.
