Gurukula College, Kelaniya will meet St. Joseph’s College, Colombo in the 1st Semi-Final of the Under 17 Division 1 Inter Schools Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association at Surrey Grounds, Maggona tomorrow (15th September).
Gurukula College, Kelaniya advanced to the second round as champions of their group in the first round. They defeated St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota in the second round and then beat St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena in the Pre-quarter Final to advance to Quarter Finals.

In the Quarter-Final, Gurukula College, Kelaniya beat Richmond College, Galle to secure their place in the Semi-Finals. The other Semi-Finalist St. Joseph’s College, Colombo also advanced to the second round as Champions of their group in the first round.
They defeated Holy Cross College, Kalutara in the second round and then beat Mahanama College, Colombo in the pre quarter final to book their place in the Quarter-Finals. Due to rain interruptions, the Quarter-Final between St. Joseph’s College, Colombo and St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa didn’t take place but the former managed to secure their place in the Semi-Finals with higher bonus points against St. Sebastian’s, College Moratuwa.
The Semi-Finalists Gurukula College, Kelaniya will be led by Didula Eshan and St. Joseph’s, College Colombo will be led by Kenath Liyanage.
