Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, a high-profile sports administrator in the squash fraternity, has been elected as the president of Sri Lanka Squash at their 43rd Annual General Meeting. Apart from him, a fresh executive committee was elected to popularize and uplift the standard of this emerging sport on the island.

Group Captain Eranda Geeganage is a past pupil of Thurstan College and a chartered engineer in electronic engineering. He is a familiar figure in the Sri Lankan squash arena and had already made a remarkable contribution in the capacity of the Vice President of SL Squash, and as the Chairman of the Tournament Committee. Further, he was the manager of the Sri Lanka National Squash Contingent, which participated in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, in 2022. In addition to his sporting duties, he serves as the Director of Media of the Sri Lanka Air Force and as the Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council.

Former national Squash player, selector and past pupil of S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia, Eranga Alwis, was appointed as the Secretary of Sri Lanka Squash. Further, he is an experienced sports administrator in the local Squash field who has ensured the smooth functioning and strategic success of the organisation during his tenure.

The newly-elected Vice Presidents are Brigadier Kaminda Silva, Commodore Manoj Leelarathne and Pujitha Udalamatta. All the above personalities have rendered their service to promote Squash in the armed forces and regional schools.

Wing Commander Sanjeewa Nanayakkara, who also immensely contributed to spreading the game in the Air Force, was appointed as Assistant Secretary. Further, national player and coloursman Nirukda Soysa was elected as the Treasurer.

Apart from the office bearers, another committed group of military officers and civilian sports enthusiasts are in the Executive Committee as the committee members.

The incumbent President and the Sri Lanka Squash Executive Committee are aiming to spread the game on the island through a Regional Development Program to attract more youths. According to his belief, the Tri-Forces should be pioneers of the program. Further, the new President is aiming to uplift the standard of the game by introducing a better structure in the local tournaments.
