Golden Jubilee Saints Quadrangular set for 26th & 27th August

The Golden Jubilee Saints Quadrangular Tournament is set to be worked off in Kandy, hosted by St. Anthony’s College, Kandy on the 26th & 27th of August  2017.

The annual Saints’ Quadrangular tournament is a premier event in the calendar of 4 catholic schools in Sri Lanka, namely St. Anthony’s College, Kandy, St. Benedict’s College, Colombo, St. Joseph’s College, Colombo & St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya.

The Saints Quadrangular tournament sees leading national and club level players produced by these 4 institutions, representing their alma mater in three major sports across four tournaments with cricket having an over 40 & below 40 tournament to go along with Basketball & Rugby.

The Main Quad (Cricket – below 40) will see the Old Joes taking on the Old Antonians at Asgiriya while the Old Bens will play the Old Peterites at the Campus grounds on the opening day(26th), with the winners of the two games set to play the final at the St. Anthony’s grounds on the final day(27th). The semi-finals of the over 40(Cricket) segment will be played at the Police grounds while the final of this 25 over competition is set to be played on the 27th at Asgiriya.

All matches of the Rugby tournament will be worked off at the familiar Nittawela Stadium on the 27th morning with all four teams to play each other before the top two teams qualify for the final scheduled at 11.50 a.m. The Basketball tournament is set to be played on the same day with the Old Joes taking on the Old Peterites while the Old Bens will take on the Old Antonians before the grand finale scheduled for 3.00 p.m. at the Gateway College Courts in Kandy.

The Josephians lead the series tally with 16 wins in the Main Quad while the Antonians lead series tally in the over 40’s with seven wins. The Benadictines have dominated basketball with 10 wins in 11 editions of the tournament while the Peterites have won the Rugby tournament twice in three editions.
