In a groundbreaking moment for Sri Lankan martial arts, on the 22nd of September 2024, Gevin Linden (24) made history as the first-ever Sri Lankan Muay Thai fighter to compete in Kard Chuek, the most brutal form of the sport. Unlike traditional Muay Thai, where fighters wear gloves, Kard Chuek requires competitors to wrap their hands in rope, amplifying the intensity and stakes of each fight.

Despite facing a formidable Thai opponent with over 70 fights under his belt, Gevin showcased remarkable heart and determination. Though he ultimately lost the match, his brave performance earned him widespread admiration and respect from spectators at home and around the world.

Gevin is no stranger to accolades; he is the reigning WBC Sri Lanka Muay Thai Champion for 2023 and has clinched several titles both locally and internationally since his successful debut in 2022. Trained by the esteemed Kru Vimukthi Abeynayake at Vanquish Muay Thai and Fitness in Colombo, Gevin’s journey is fueled by a shared dream: to reach the prestigious ONE Championship by 2027, a platform that gathers the best fighters from around the globe.

Gevin’s burgeoning career in combat sports is a testament to his passion and dedication. As he continues to push his limits, there’s no doubt that his journey will inspire many and bring pride to Sri Lanka. With his warrior spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence, Gevin Linden is poised to leave an indelible mark on the world of professional Muay Thai.
