The annual rugby big match between St. Aloysius College and Richmond College will come alive on the 14th of June 2018 at the Koggala Grounds.

Tagged as the rugby big match of the south, the Aloysius-Richmond encounter is an important fixture in the sporting calendar of the two esteemed institutions and is an event that brings together the two school fraternities each year.

This year will be a special occasion as the 2018 encounter will be the 25th encounter between the two sides; the defending champions, St. Aloysius College will be looking to retain the silverware.

The St. Aloysius team led by Firas Fairoos last year clinched the important L. V. Sumanasekara trophy after four long years at the Aloysian grounds. It was Sachindra Madulanka’s hat-trick of tries that got his team through to a 19-9 win over Richmond.

This year will be a tough contest between the two schools with both teams having done the hard work during the season.
