Reigning Champions League and FA Cup champions, Colombo FC, Java Lane SC, Renown SC and Saunders SC will battle it out for the City Football League – President’s Trophy.
The tournament is the brainchild of City Football League President R.Puvanandiran; the tournament was organized for the top four clubs of the City Football League as they are unable to participate in the City Football, league tournament due to their participation in the Champions League.
City Football League is the only league in the country to have four top flight clubs participating in the Champions League. Saunders, Renown and Java Lane have rich football history while Colombo FC, the new kid on the block, has risen to championship quality in a short time since their establishment.

“We wanted to give the four clubs an opportunity to play against each other as they are unable to play in the league. This will give these four of the top clubs in Sri Lanka the chance to battle it out to show who the best is,” Puvanandiran added.
“This will also boost the game of football with quality and the attendance of the die-hard fans will add glamour,” he went on to add.
The tournament will also act as a warm-up for the four clubs for the FA Cup knockout stages.
The tournament will be played on league basis with the top two clubs qualifying for the final. The first match will be on the 2nd of April between reigning Champions League winners, Colombo FC and runners-up Renown SC.
