The proceedings of Week Six of the Colombo Hockey League 2025 Andriez Shield – Men’s Division A, Division B, Division C League Tournament and Women’s League Tournament concluded last weekend (5th and 6th June) at the Astro Turf, Colombo 07.
Royal College Hockey Club vs BRC: In the only Division A game of the weekend, the Indian and Pakistan union force managed to down the leaders of the league, BRC, in a thrilling encounter. In the very first minute of the game, Waseem, the standout from the Pakistan national team, scored a goal, and later in the 1st quarter, he managed to double his goal tally. The second quarter went without troubling the scorers, and at the lemons, the Royal had a comfortable 02 – 00 lead. (2nd Quarter Royal 02 – 00 BRC). In the third quarter, Abeetha, who scored a hat-trick against Old Zahira Hockey Club the previous weekend, scored for BRC. (3rd Quarter Royal 02 – 00 BRC).
When it came to the final quarter, the stage was set for another nail-biting finish, and the game lived up to its billing. After an action-packed early phase, Asitha managed to find an equalizer for BRC. In the final eight minutes both sides battled fiercely to find the winning goal, and the Royalist had the last laugh as the Indian player Harshdeep nailed the final goal of the match.

Despite their first loss, the BRC hockey outfit still remains in the top spot of the Men’s Division A points board, while CH & FC Club and Royal College Hockey Club are chasing them in touching distance.
In the women’s league, Young Ladies Hockey Club Women’s managed to edge out BRC ladies with a 1 – 0 goal margin. With this vital victory Young Ladies managed to retain the top position of the points table with three wins and one loss.
In the Division B League, Old Joes Sports Club dominates the proceedings so far, while there is a close tussle between Colombo Colts and Old Wesleyites for the second spot. In the Division C segment, the unbeaten Old Isipathana side dominates Group A, while CH & FC and Old Peterite SC are battling hard for supremacy in Group B, with the same points.
But the highlight of the weekend was the brilliant seven-goal rally scored by the talented striker from Old Isipathana Hockey Club, Gihan, against Old Asokians Hockey Club (Division C). Further, Jeromi from Old Joes Sports Club scored a hat-trick to outclass Old Wesleyites Sports Club in their Division B game.
