The 8th Annual Hameed Al Husseinie Soccer Fiesta will herald the beginning of the Inter School Football season for the year 2015.
This Inter School Invitational Football Tournament organized by the 80’s Group of Hameed Al Husseinie and sponsored by A.N.T.Glass Fittings (Pvt) Ltd will take place from the 7th to the 22nd of March at the Sugathadasa Stadium. 17 schools will be participating in this year’s edition while the organizers promise another extravaganza of football.
A tournament billed as a bridge between race, religion and cast will encourage fellowship among the participants while popularizing the game among school children and public. This will also be a stage for the future stars to showcase their talents and mould their character also to adapt to bigger grounds and play under floodlights. It will also offer an opportunity for the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association and National Team to identify future talents and help them in the progress of their football career.
Established in 15th November 1884, Hameed Al Husseinie College, Colombo 12, Sri Lanka, has a long history spreading over 130 years. It has produced many notable personalities who have served the Community, played bigger roles in Society, established world records and made Sri Lanka shine in International Arena. From the year the school won the Sir John Tarbot Shield Tournament for Football in 1957, the school became a synonymous name when it comes to Football. It is a well-known fact that Hameed Al Husseinie College has won all the major titles under its belt from the tournaments conducted by all prestigious government institutions – be it in Schools Level, Divisional Level, Ministry Level, National Level or tournaments organized by Non-Government Organizations and Football Clubs.
The winners will be well rewarded as well as there will be awards like ‘Golden Glove’ for the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament, ‘Fantastic Foot’ for the Highest Goal Scorer and Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
