Mohamed Fazal scored a brace in a win against Serendib, Moragasmulla shock Police while Solid and Saunders bagged three-points in matchweek three of the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse International Stadium.
Solid v Super Sun
Solid secured a narrow 1-0 win against Super Sun in a Group B encounter in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
Both teams came into the game low on form and desperately needing a win. However, neither side made an impact on the game and failed to score in the first half.

Solid started the 2nd half positively and were rewarded with a goal in the 66th minute through Kennady Johnraj. Thereafter, they controlled the game and could have added more if not for poor finishing.

New Star v Serendib
Mohamed Fazal produced an inspirational performance bagging a brace as New Star defeated Serendib 2-1 in a high stakes encounter in Group A in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
In a potential group top deciding encounter both sides named a strong starting eleven. New Star controlled the game with veterans Nadeeka Pushpakumara and Fazal in midfield. They had a few chances but were not able to convert.
Serendib looked out of sorts, losing out on possession frequently and never had a vision in attack.

Soon after the break, New Star took the lead through Fazal in the 52nd minute before Vijayakumar Abishan equalized for Serendib in the 64th minute.
With the game seemingly heading towards a draw deep into added time it was Fazal’s brilliance that gave New Star the winner, when his free-kick bounced off the upright and into the goal.

Moragasmulla v Police
Moragasmulla stunned in-form Police 1-0 in a Group B encounter in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
Police came into the match on the back of two wins out of two while Moragasmulla had a draw and a loss each from their two matches. Moragasmulla defended stoutly frustrating Police as both teams went into the break without scoring.

Moragasmulla were happy to play on the counter-attack and in one of those instances they forced a foul from Police inside the box and were awarded a penalty. Mohamed Katheem stepped up and made no mistake from the spot.
Police desperately tried for an equalizer but Morgasmulla defense were too stubborn to break, while both teams received a red card each late in the game.

Saunders v SLTB
Saunders comfortably defeated SLTB 5-0 in a Group A encounter in the Sri Lanka Football Champions League at the Racecourse Stadium.
Led by their new recruit Roger Philippe Saunders dominated the game but had to wait until the 45th minute to score the opener through Ziard Mufazzal.
Half Time: Saunders 1 – 0 SLTB
Philippe doubled the lead in the 55th minute with a pinpoint free-kick and substitute Mohamed Zaid made it 3-0 in the 68th minute.
Philippe scored his 2nd in the 80th minute and the constant Saunders pressure forced SLTB skipper Thuwan Fahim to score an own goal 5 minutes later.
