113

The Mercantile Cricket Association in the recently concluded Premier League sponsorship handing over ceremony, declared for the first time the history, a selected player based on performance, discipline and fair play will be offered a Scholarship to the Darren Lehman Coaching Academy in South Australia”.

As outlined by the incumbent President Ashley Ratnayake, the objective though at a considerable cost to MCA in offering the scholarship, is to bring back some of the lost glories of the game particularly concerning the importance and the competitiveness of the domestic cricket structure including the resurrection of the declining and waning “gentleman’s game” factors of the game –discipline, fair play and the conduct of players.

In this regard the premier division individual  performances have been closely monitored form the inception of the tournament  by the appointed match referees who will be submitting their nominations to the selection committee in order to finalize the selected player.
