The 17th Battle of the Golds encounter played between D. S. Senanayake College and Mahanama College ended in a draw today (25th March) at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo. 

Batting first, D. S. Senanayake College were bowled out for a modest total of 203 runs despite Manura Peiris contributing with a valuable half-century. Inuka Karannagoda was the pick of the bowlers for Mahanama College as he managed to take 5 wickets for 62 runs.

In reply, Mahanama College showcased a better batting display, posting 255/8 before declaring their first innings. Kavindu Amameth (111) and Anjala Bandara (82) impressed with the bat for Mahanama with fine knocks.

D. S. Senanayake College began their second innings 52 runs behind, but displayed an improved batting effort compared to their first innings, posting 242/5 thanks to Himantha Keshan’s brilliant century.

Chasing 191 runs to win, Mahanama College were 76/2 when Umpires called stumps for day two.
