Over 60 awards were given in the domestic arena for the 2015/16 year at the Dialog National Cricket Awards 2016 held at Taj Samudra on Monday night.

In the presence of President – Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC), Thilanga Sumathipala, Group Chief Executive Officer – Dialog Axiata PLC, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, SLC Ex-Co members, stake holders and other distinguished guests the domestic performances in all the SLC conducted tournaments for 2015/16 were highlighted.

Eleven more awards were also presented to appreciate some of the long-serving SLC staff, high-excelling match officials and journalists on a night filled with dance, laughter and entertainment.

Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club claimed the Premier League title after 65 years and their top order batsman Tharanga Paranavithana won the Best Batsman title for scoring with 953 runs in 10 matches while Colombo Cricket Club left-arm chinamen bowler Lakshan Sandaken duly accepted the Best Bowler’s award. Dhananjaya De Silva’s 34 wickets and 868 runs at an average of 54.25 which eventually got him a place in the Sri Lankan side assured him the Best All Rounder title.

Seekkuge PrasannaIn the Premier Limited Overs Tournament, SSC opening batsman Danushka Gunathilake scored 270 runs off 5 matches which led him to receive the Best Batsman’s award while Nondescripts Cricket Club skipper Farveez Maharoof who grabbed 16 wickets from 5 games walked away with the Best Bowler’s award. Off-spinning all-rounder from Moors Sports Club, Sachithra Serasinghe took 9 wickets and stroked 120 runs in 4 matches to be adjudged Best All Rounder.

Dasun Shanaka who hammered two breakneck centuries to accumulate 348 runs in the Premier T20 Tournament convincingly won the Best Batsman’s award while experienced Thilina Thushara who made a cracking comeback to take 13 wickets was named Best Bowler. Explosive T20 specialist, Seekkuge Prasanna who led Army Sports Club to the T20 crown scoring 168 runs and capturing 9 wickets won the Best All Rounder award.
