The contribution made by the Police Department of Sri Lanka for the advancement fosterage of the Field of Games and Sports in Sri Lanka is inestimable.
The Police SC has a history of over 145 years and the Police Football Association was formed in the year 1897. The first captain of the Police football team was A.S.Thawson.

The Bambalapitiya Police Park is the home of the football team of Police SC where they are equipped with a modern gym, instructors, swimming pool, medical staff and a coaching staff with National experience. The Police SC has inbred players where the talent is scouted and recruited to the squad through the Police Inter Division tournament, held every year. – represented by the divisions throughout the country.

Apart from the two FA Cup win Police SC were also involved in another 4 FA Cup Finals. They have been consistent and have been involved in quarter and semi finals in almost every tournament represented. The current squad includes two national players in, Rajitha Jayavilal and Nuwantha Charaka. The current team is coached by Mahinda Galagedera who was the Sri Lanka women’s team coach in 2012.
