After amassing a decent 248 in the first innings, Dharmaraja College hit hard with a brilliant bowling effort to put Revatha College in a precarious situation their U-19 school cricket match commenced at Lake View Kandy today.

At stumps on day one Revatha were 79 for nine, still trailed by 169 runs.

Dharmaraja’s effort with the bat was not as impressive as one would have expected even though little partnerships here and there took them to a decent total against a weak bowling attack. Chandimal De Silva missed out on what would have been a fine half century by a mere run while Dilshan Gunasinghe (41), Kavindu Ratnayake (37 ) and Ruchira Pupulewatte (32) resisted some tight bowling to put a decent score on the board. Hishanka Lakshan was the pick of the bowlers for Revatha with four for 49 while Suresh Kumara claimed three wickets for 63 runs.

Revatha however showed little resistance in batting as they collapsed for 79 for nine at stumps as Wenuka Galahitiywa (3 for 9), Deneth Lanka (2 for 8), Ruchira Pupulewatte (2 for 12) and  Chandimal De Silva (2 for 30) . Suresh Kumara was the top scorer in the innings with 20.
