Death Notice of K.T. Francis

It is with deep regret that Sri Lanka Cricket announces the passing of Mr. K.T. Francis – Former Test Umpire of SLC.

Umpire Kandiah Francis, who officiated in Sri Lanka’s inaugural Test match against England at the P Sara Oval in February 1982, died on Sunday in hospital after losing his battle against diabetes. Francis was 73 years old.

Francis was a member of the ICC international panel of umpires and officiated in 25 Tests between 1982 and 1999, and 56 ODIs in that period which included two World Cups in 1996 and 1999.

Remains will lie at AF Raymonds Funeral Parlour no.3  after 9.30 am today (11th June 2013) and the funeral will take place on Thursday 13th June 2013 at 4.30 pm at Borella Cemetery.
