Both Dambulla and Colombo knew they’ll be meeting each other again on Sunday(02nd Sep) in the final of Sri Lanka Cricket T20 League, but it was another closely fought battle between the two most dominant sides of the tournament in the final group stage game in Pallekele.
Team Dambulla won the toss and elected to bat first but were looking down the barrel at the half way stage with half of their side back in the pavilion.

Wanindu Hasaranga was struggling with his timing as he made a dodged unbeaten 26* off 33 balls before skipper Isuru Udana struck a few lusty blows making 41* off just 25 balls. His knock included a remarkable five sixes while he did not hit a single boundary during his innings.
Jeevan Mendis bowled another impressive spell capturing 3/23 in his four overs to put the breaks on Dambulla, before they broke free towards the very latter part of their innings.
Team Dambulla carried momentum in to their bowling innings as they captured three quick wickets in the first five overs.
But a vital recovery stand between Priyamal Perera and Kamindu Mendis got Team Colombo back on track before Sammu Ashan walked out and hit four towering sixes to push Colombo closer towards victory.
Galle stay in hunt with vital win
Team Galle stayed in thr hunt for a spot in the final on Sunday (02nd September ) when they recorded a vital 38 run win over……
The pendulum kept swinging both ways but Sammu Ashan’s run out in the penultimate over all but sealed the game for Dambulla who recorded their fourth win of the tournament by a nerve wrecking five runs.
Amila Aposo who bowled a tidy spell on Wednesday evening, followed it up with another tremendous spell capturing 3/13 as he choked the Dambulla too and middle order.
The final will be played between Dambulla and Colombo at the R. Premadasa stadium on Sunday, the 02nd of September under floodlights.
