D.S. Senanayake College managed to claim first innings honours against Mahanama College on Day 2 of the 19 th Battle of the Golds played today (10 th May) at SSC Grounds, Colombo. D.S. Senanayake College resumed their first innings on day two at 13/0 and went onto post 249 runs taking a lead of 14 runs.
The middle order batter Chanul Athale top scored for D.S. Senanayake College with a fine knock of 73 runs. Sithum Vihanga was the top performer with the ball for Mahanama College as he scalped 4 wickets for 67 runs.
Mahanama College began their second innings 14 runs behind and their opening pair – Dulnith Sigera and Sineth Veerarathne gave them a rollicking start with an unbeaten partnership of 93 runs at the close of play on Day 2.
Sigera scored 50 runs off 41 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes while Veerarathne hit 39 runs off 44 balls with 4 fours and a six.
