After two weeks in the Premier League Division I Cooray SC, Golden Star,SLTB and Serendib sits atop their four respective groups undefeated.
Group A
Cooray SC heads group A with 9 points after getting three wins from three. They had a nervy first match with Badovita United scrapping through for a 1-0 win. However their next two wins were convincing as they defeated last year’s FA Cup Pre-Quarter Finalists New Star 2-0 and Old Bens 4-0.
Red Star SC who looks like they are the main threat to the Wellawatta based Cooray SC, have 2 wins against Old Bens & Maligawatta Youth, scores of 3-0 and 5-0 respectively. New Star who were billed as the next to be promoted the Champions League after the heroics last year in the FA Cup has got off to a not so ideal start winning only one of the two matches and in fourth in the group. The win was over Colpetty United.

Golden Star SC with 6 points takes top spot in group B. They defeated Young Marians 3-0 and survived a thrilling 3-2 win over Eastern Youth. Renown SC from Hatton takes second place in the group with a win from their only game against Comrades SC winning 3-1.

Group C is led by another one of last year’s Pre Quarter Finalists, SLTB SC (Sri Lanka Transportation Board). They were a formidable side in the 80’s and has now started to show the class they possess. SLTB has 6 points from the two matches defeating Dharga Twon 4-1 and Green Field SC 2-0. Moragasmulla is behind SLTB with four points – oone win and one draw – with the draw coming in a ding dong 2-2 against Highlanders .

Group D saw last year’s Division II winners Maroons SC, former heavyweight in the Champions League – Jupiters SC and newly relegated from the Champions League Thihariya Youth locking horns making it an exciting group. However all three have failed to make a mark sitting in the bottom three while Serendib SC & Old Mazenodians leads with four points each. Serendib drew 0 all with Jupiters while Old Mazenodians defeated Jupiters 1-0.
