CCC continue with giant killing

CCC continued with their giant killing performances as they put themselves in contention for an outright victory over Ragama CC on the second day of the SLC Premier League inter club Super Eight cricket tournament match which continued at the NCC ground today.

 CCC v Ragama

Ragama CC electing to bat first after winning the toss suffered a huge setback when they were shot out for just 107 runs in 37 overs with only four of their batsmen entering the double figures.

 Spinner Lakshan Rangika returned excellent figures of four wickets for 19 runs while Dilesh Gunaratne and Chaturanga Kumara provided the back up support while claiming three wickets each.

 CCC also lost wickets at regular intervals in reply but they managed to overtake their opponents total and to build up a good first innings lead largely due to a fighting knock of 91 from Indika de Saram who hoisted one six and struck thirteen boundaries.

 Ragama CC in their second innings fared much better as they reached 207 runs for six wickets with middle order batsman Ian Daniel making a top score of 68 from 126 deliveries inclusive of one six and seven boundaries.

 However CCC were very much in a strong position as Ragama CC were ahead by only by 96 runs with just four wickets in hand.

 

Moors v Ports

Moors Sports Club also batted themselves into a commanding position with another tremendous performance on the second day of their SLC inter club Premier League Super Eight tournament match against Sri Lanka Ports Authority team which continued at Havelock Park today.

After piling up an impressive 311 runs in their first innings Moors SC produced an equally brilliant performance on the field to skittle out their opponents for just 136 runs.

Dynamic spinner Malinda Pushpakumara was the destroyer as he ripped through the Ports Authority middle order with splendid figures of five wickets for 32 runs.

Moors SC of course lost four early wickets in their second attempt but still they finished the day with a commanding position having extended their overall lead to a healthy 240 runs.

 

 SSC v Army

SSC produced a tremendous batting performance to build up a massive first innings lead over Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in their SLC inter club Premier League Super Eight tournament match which continued at Braybrooke Place today.

SSC simply showcased their batting depth and went on to rattle up a huge 435 runs with elegant opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne stroking a magnificent 142 from 206 deliveries and with the help of eleven boundaries.

In addition middle order batsmen Dasun Shanaka and Thilina Kandamby also struck solid half centuries while all rounder Charith Jayampathy batting at number nine raced to a sparkling 59 with five sixes and four boundaries.

 

 Badureliya v Panadura

Badureliya CC put up a fine performance to snatch first innings honours over Panadura Sports Club on the opening day of their SLC inter club Premier League Place Championship match which commenced at Katunayake today.

Panadura SC who were put into bat were bowled out for a mere 101 runs with opening bowler Thilina Thushara (4 for 25) and Saman Jayantha (3 for 9) causing the damage.

Badureliya CC then consolidated their position and went on to reach 139 for 3 wickets with middle order batsman Hans Fernando stroking an unbeaten half century with the aid of eight boundaries.

 

 Air Force v Bloomfield

Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club were struggling at 74 for five wickets in reply to Bloomfield’s first innings total of 278 runs on the opening day of their SLC inter club Premier League Plate championship match which began at the Panadura Esplanade today.

 

 Colts v Chilaw Marians

Meanwhile Colts CC were well placed at 75 for 2 in reply to Chilaw Marians’ first innings total of 128 runs on the opening day of their SLC inter club Premier League Plate Championship match which began at Panagoda today.
