Blind Cricket World Cup 2014 Kumara helps SL victory

Sri Lanka Blind Cricket Team registered an impressive seven wickets victory over Australia in the World Cup Blind Cricket 2014 at Wilson Ground, Cape Town, South Africa to record their first win.

 

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field first, Australia scored 233/9 in their 40 overs. The middle order didn’t play well for the team. Brett Wilson (52) batted well and, while Stephen Palmer (59) also made a useful contribution.

Upul Sanjeewa picked up three wickets for 46 runs, while Chandana Suriyarachchi and Dimuthu Ravindra shared two wickets each.

In reply, Sri Lankan players started well and kept up the momentum until they achieved victory. Saman Kumara (92 – run out) and Ruwan Wasantha (67) helped to reach the target in the 25th over for the loss of only three wickets.

Matthew McCarthy had a haul of two wickets, while Lindsay Heaven took the other wicket for the Australians.
