Singer U 17 Div I tournament is having one of the busiest weeks so far. Here’s a brief look into few of the matches which took place during the last couple of days.

Ananda College VS Royal College

This big clash between the two premier schools in Colombo took place on Wednesday at the Royal grounds. Ananda posted 188 runs batting first and thereafter through a brilliant bowling performance by they managed to bundle out the home side for just 42 runs, a morale boosting 146 run victory for Ananda College.

Wadduwa MMV VS DS Senanayake College

A brilliant performance with both bat and ball saw DS registering a massive 212 run victory over minnows Wadduwa MMV. DS posted 282 runs batting first thanks to a timely century by Dasun Bimasha. Dasun then took the ball into his hand and bagged a fifer to restrict their opponents for just 70 runs.

Due to the delayed start the match was reduced to 35 overs. Sandalanka MV was bundled out for just 98 runs after being put to bat first and Joseph Vaz got over the line in 20.1 overs with 9 wickets in hand.

Dushan Hettige’s century guided Ananda College to a convincing 41 run victory over Ananda Sastralaya. Ananda posted 222 for 5 in 44 overs before the rain poured down. Sastralaya was given a target of 156 for 25 overs according to the Parabola method but they were bowled out for just 115 runs.

Match was reduced to 38 overs due to the late start. Dharmaloka only could manage to score 130 runs and in return De Mazenod chased down the target with 33 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand.

Gurukula College handed a 7 wicket drubbing to DS Senanyake College at CMS grounds yesterday. DS was bowled out for just 148 runs and Gurukula got over the line in a canter with more than 15 overs to spare.

Suhanga Wijewardane’s five wicket haul guided Nalanda College to a convincing 41 run victory over Dharmapala College. Nalanda posted 214 all out batting first and in reply Dharmapala was bowled out for just 173 in 45.3 overs

Bandaranayke College put up a brilliant show with the ball to snatch the victory against Sandalanka MMV. Bandaranayke Collegewere in a spot of bother when they were bowled out for just 150 runs but two five wicket hauls by Arosha Madushan and Visitha Madanayke saw them registering a 97 run victory at the end.

Trinity College VS St Anthony’s College

The up country battle was unraveled yet again at St Anthony’s Ground on Wednesday. Prevon Percivel’s unbeaten 83 helped the visitors’ post 228 runs and in reply the home side struggled and ultimately was bowled out for 138 runs which gave Trinity a massive 90 run victory.

This battle between two neighboring town schools ended with a thrilling 46 run victory to St Anthony’s College. De Mazenod was on the hunt thanks to a fighting knock by Praveen Fonseka but after he fell for 59, the Anthonians took control and bundled out their opponents for 223 runs.
