After claiming a shock win in the domestic Twenty-20 Tournament in 2014/15, Badureliya Sports Club had quite a forgettable campaign in 2015/16 and will be aiming to better their performance this time around.

Bit of History

Badureliya SC made their 1st first class debut in the 2005/06 season, making them one of the newer names in the domestic circuit. They have had their fair share of relegation battles but have come up to be in the Tier ‘A’ this season. Badureliya SC finished last in group B in the 2015/16 season and only managed a penultimate finish in the plate segment drawing 5 out of 5 games.

Key Players

Alankara Asanka will be the man with the captain’s arm-band this season. Asanka made his debut for Badureliya way back in the year 2005 and has gone on to represent Colts Cricket Club subsequently returned to Badureliya. He has played 83 first class matches and made more than 2000 runs but would be aiming to improve on his average of 19.47.

23 year-old former Peterite Shehan Fernando first made his first class debut at Colts CC but has taken a rather backward step by switching to Badureliya. He has made 27 first class appearances and has 1339 runs under his belt.

A man with plenty of club experience, Saliya Saman will have a big role to play as the main all-rounder in the side. Saman has made 2557 runs and 179 wickets in his career.

Nadeera Nawela, Playing as a batsman, he will be the lynchpin in the Badureliya batting line-up. He has a career spanning over 120 matches and has notched up 5912 runs.

New Boys

Former Josephian, Sachin Hewawasam will be a man to watch out for as he takes on his second season at Badureliya. He was the captain of the 1st XI outfit back in 2012/13 guiding the Joes to a win over arch rivals St. Peter’s in their annual limited overs encounter.

Duvindu Thilakarathne, the former Trinitian left arm spinner, will be playing his debut season at Badureliya SC. He managed 100 wickets in the 2015/16 season for his school and will be seeking to carry his school form into the club circuit.

Coaching staff

Ruwan Dilruk will be the man at the helm of the Badureliya outfit. He will be assisted by Prageeth Nishantha.
