Imad Wasim and Babar Azam have been recalled for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia, the first of which takes place on 24 October in Abu Dhabi.

Uncapped left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood has also earned a spot but there is no room for fast bowler Mohammad Amir.

Amir, who has been a key man for Pakistan since his reintegration into international cricket, is currently playing domestic cricket to rediscover his rhythm and also missed out on selection for the current Test series.

All-rounder Imad, who was left out of Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad over fitness concerns, has returned to the squad having not played a T20I for nearly a year. “Imad makes a comeback in the team after his form and fitness was monitored by the selection committee during the current domestic matches,” confirmed selection chief Inzamam ul Haq.

Babar also returns for the shortest format, while 30-year-old Maqsood features in the 15-man squad having impressed during the ongoing domestic season and the T20 series between Pakistan A and New Zealand A at the ICC Academy.

Pakistan T20I squad: Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Sahibzada Farhan, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, Sarfraz Ahmed (c, wk), Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Usman Khan, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Waqas Maqsood, Faheem Ashraf.
