Isipathana skipper Ayana Siriwaradane and St. Aloysius left-hander Ravindu Sanjana hit centuries in the Singer Schools’ U19 Division I, 2017/18 two-day Cricket tournament, which commenced today at 3 venues around the Island.

Trinity College vs St. Servatius College

The hosts Trinity College won the toss and invited the lads from Matara to have a bat at the Asgiriya grounds. Servatius boys were 80/4 at lunch and the home team put up a fighting effort in the afternoon session as they restricted the visitors for a below-par 138 all out. Right-arm off spinner Kavishka Senadeera picked up 4 wickets, while Sri Lanka youth cap Thisaru Dilshan and Vimukthi Nethmal bagged 3 wickets a piece in the opening of the traditional encounter.

In reply, Trinity College was 106 for 3 at close of play. Skipper Hasitha Boyagoda anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 33.

Isipathana skipper Ayana Siriwardane won the toss and opted to bat first on batting friendly conditions at Colts grounds. Sri Lanka youth-cap Siriwardane smashed an outstanding 101 off 79 balls, that included 11 fours and 3 massive sixes, while right-hander Shamilka Wickramathilake anchored the innings with a classy 71 off 164 deliveries. Both right handers added 134 for the 3rd wicket as the hosts posted 278 all out in the opening day of the traditional encounter.

After losing the toss, the home team was knocked out for a disappointing 85 all out on the opening day of the traditional encounter which started today at Kadirana grounds, Negombo.

Left-arm spinner Kavika Dilshan was the hero for the lads from Galle as he picked up 5/19 to rattle the opponents cheaply. In reply St. Aloysius’ College was in a commanding position (239/4) thanks to Ravindu Sanjana who stroked his second consecutive ton. The lads from Gampaha must bat out the second day to save the game as St. Aloysius College controlled the opening day of the traditional encounter.
