Avishka Fernando to miss several months of Cricket due to knee injury

Sri Lankan batter Avishka Fernando set to miss 3-6 months of Cricket as he suffered a knee injury during the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of Australia.

According to reports, Fernando had got injured during a practice session held in Australia which requires him to undergo a surgery.

As a result, he could be out of Cricket for 3 to 6 months. Fernando, who played the first 2 T20I games against Australia, failed to make a significant impact with the bat with scores of 6 & 5.

With Fernando’s injury, five players will be unavailable for selection for the last T20I game against Australia as Nuwan Thushara (injured), Ramesh Mendis (injured), Binura Fernando (COVID-19) & Wanindu Hasaranga (COVID-19) have already been ruled out from the last game of the series.

The fifth T20I between Sri Lanka and Australia will take place tomorrow (20th February) at Melbourne Cricket Ground from 11.40 PM Sri Lanka Time onwards.
