Australia, the co-hosts of the 2015 World Cup, will enter the tournament that begins on February 14 as the No.1 ranked One-Day International side following their 112-run win over England in the triangular series final in Perth on Sunday (February 1).

Australia’s victory gave them a six-point advantage over second-placed India, the defending world champions, who failed to win a single match in the same competition.

India are a point clear of South Africa, who beat West Indies 4-1 at home recently.

New Zealand, currently ranked sixth, can reduce the difference between them and the fifth-place England team to two points if they beat Pakistan on Tuesday and win their ongoing series 2-0. On the other hand, if seventh-ranked Pakistan win the second and final ODI and level the series, then they will reduce the difference between them and New Zealand to three points.

Sri Lanka, who lost to New Zealand, are on 109 points at fourth, while West Indies, like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, are the other teams with less than 100 points against their name.

New Zealand take on Sri Lanka in Christchurch, while Australia play England in Melbourne on the opening day of the World Cup.
