Sri Lanka Paddlers off to Asian Table Tennis Championship

The Sri Lanka National Table Tennis Team will take part in the Asian Table Tennis Championship 2019 from the 15th to 22nd September at Yogyakartha – Indonesia.

The national team will be participating in this year’s Asian Table Tennis Championship that will take place in Yogyakartha – Indonesia which will feature top players from 33 nations in the Men’s Category and 25 nations in the Women’s Category. This tournament is organized by the Asian TT Union.

Team Sri Lanka, equipped with experienced players Rohan Sirisena from STAG Table Tennis Academy and Ishara Madurangi from Sri Lanka Port Authority, who has represented the country in many international tournaments in the senior events, will lead the Men’s and Women’s national teams respectively.

Sri Lanka’s current national Men’s champ Chameera Ginige of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Women’s champ Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College – Kandy will also feature in the team.

Supuna Warusawithana of Moratuwa University and Erandi Warusawithana of Sri Lanka Army are another two players who performed well in the local arena and will join the squad for this championship. Youngsters Senura Silva of Ananda College Colombo and Jithara Warnakulasuriya of Ladies’ College will also compete in the championship. The Men’s and Women’s team were approved by the Ministry of Sports.
