The fixtures have been announced for the 2014 Asia Cup, with 11 matches to be played in Fatullah and Mirpur between 25 February and 8 March.

While Sri Lanka and India’s participation and Afghanistan’s maiden appearance at the ODI tournament was confirmed late last year, Bangladesh and Pakistan’s presence remained in the balance until earlier this month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had initially voiced concerns amid a diplomatic dispute between the governments of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The impasse has since reached a conclusion.

“We are delighted to be having the Asia Cup in Bangladesh again,” said Asian Cricket Council chief executive officer Syed Ashraful Huq.

“The success of the last event in Bangladesh, where the support of the crowds for all teams, not just the home nation, made for a terrific event.

“After what has been a particularly difficult time for the citizens of Bangladesh, people can once again unite in support of their country, their visitors and the Asia Cup, an event which over the years has held up the cause of a united Asia, the new centre of cricket.”

India won the inaugural Asia Cup in 1984, while Pakistan won the 2012 edition. Sri Lanka’s last tournament victory was in 2008.
